Megan Carey

Megan Carey is a Senior Consultant with Collaborative Safety, LLC.  Prior to joining Collaborative Safety, Ms. Carey had a 24-year career in child welfare.  Ms. Carey graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work and from the University of Phoenix with a Master’s Degree in Counseling.  She worked for the State of Utah for 8 years for the Department of Child and Family Services. During that time, Ms. Carey was one of the first members of the Utah County Sex Crimes Task Force investigating serious incidents of physical and sexual abuse against children with the help of local community and law enforcement agencies.  She conducted well over a thousand forensic interviews and became an expert in interviewing child victims.  In 2006, Ms. Carey moved to Arizona and started working for Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).  During her career there, she spent most of her time conducting assessments on children and their families as well as supervising front line staff.  She also helped create the child and family team meetings which offered services and support for young adults who were aging out of foster care.  In 2017, Ms. Carey moved into the role of a Safety Analyst where she assisted DCS to shape their Systemic Critical Incident Reviews creating a safer working environment for their employees.  It was in this role; Ms. Carey realized her passion for advocating for front line staff and the desire to help spread the message of safety science.
